Ray Dillinger
Although declaring Bitcoin a “disaster” in 2020, Ray Dillinger was heavily influential in the creation of the Bitcoin project. As an early Cypherpunk, Ray attempted to create his own digital-cash proposal before Bitcoin caught his eye some years later.

AHEAD OF HIS TIME
In May 1995, Dillinger attempted to build on David Chaum’s ‘eCash’. He believes his proposal was “the first digital-cash protocol ever to use blockchains in any form” - a major leap towards Bitcoin and the first decentralised cryptocurrency.Source

ONE OF THE FIRST CYPHERPUNKS
Dillinger was one of the first 30 people to join the cryptography mailing list. Prior to this, he had been a member of the earlier cypherpunks list where he communicated with the likes of Hal Finney and other fellow pioneers who shaped the space.Source

FEEDBACK FOR SATOSHI
Ray Dillinger was also one of a select few who communicated with Satoshi prior to the launch of Bitcoin. He reviewed code for the blockchain part of the Bitcoin source code and worked with Finney to review the accounting code for Satoshi.Source
