Gavin Andresen
As an experienced software developer, Andresen’s career led him to the renowned Silicon Valley before he used his skills to create online games for blind people in the late 90s. After only discovering Bitcoin in 2010, he went on to be one of the biggest contributors to the project.

THE BITCOIN FAUCET
Shortly after discovering Bitcoin, Andresen started thinking of ways which would help the project go mainstream. ‘The Bitcoin Faucet’ was a website that gave away 5BTC to any visitor that completed a simple captcha to prove they weren’t a robot.Source

SATOSHI’S SUCCESSOR
Andresen became the successor to Satoshi after the Bitcoin founder stepped back from the project in 2010. He wrote that he would start doing more active project management for Bitcoin with ‘Satoshi’s blessing’.Source
2012
BITCOIN FOUNDATION
Andresen was appointed chief scientist of the Bitcoin Foundation in 2012. The foundation existed to restore the reputation of Bitcoin after the cryptocurrency started to be associated with crime. Additionally, the group attempted to improve rules and regulation surrounding cryptocurrencies.Source
