The challenge

The key challenge was to deliver growth by building a slick, user-friendly platform. Critical to success was developing a well-thought-through UX that made the complex process and blockchain-related functions seamless.

The results

Working from UX design to product build, Avark delivered a strategy that has gained rapid user traction and established Launchpool as one of the leaders in the space within just nine months, outperforming all of the initial objectives Launchpool set.

Overview

A crypto launchpad

Launchpool is a crypto launchpad, revolutionising how blockchain-based projects get off the ground by providing them access to capital via a Kickstarter-type platform.

Launchpool was conceived on egalitarian investing principles and believes all stakeholders in an investment project are equally important. It prides itself on ensuring early-stage investment is accessible for everyone.

Avark challenged ourselves to achieve the following objectives:

  1. To launch the project within six months
  2. To ensure that Launchpool users instantly understood how the platform worked and could onboard simply.
  3. To build an easy-to-access interface that integrated multiple blockchains, including formal KYC identity processes within the blockchain app.
  4. To grow the community to 10,000 users within the first year

Branding

Launchpool is a community bound together by the $LPOOL token

The Launchpool brand needed to appeal to a wide-ranging community. Specifically, we were targeting three primary audiences: crypto startups, $LPOOL holders and investment funds.

Our design team were challenged to deliver a brand that showcased this, whilst also delivering a logo that would instantly gain trust and be able to stand alone as an icon for the $LPOOL token.

The infinity loop of the Launchpool logo represents the constant connection between the community and the projects. We wanted to highlight that the two groups were not separate; they were interlinked, equally dependent on one another and part of the same process.

UX Wireframes & Prototyping

Core Community engagement platform

Great UX was key. We mapped all user journeys across the platform, from the point of landing to the approval of smart contracts.

We were working with new technology, so we invented UX patterns on-the-fly. There was no precedent for the blockchain wallet challenges we faced, so our agile build approach allowed us to develop solutions instantaneously.

Our long-term relationship with Launchpool has seen us work on the project from wireframes to prototype to build. The success and growth of Launchpool has presented new UX challenges along the way. Avark continues to work with the Launchpool test team on a consultancy basis constantly looking to improve the UX.

Design

Slick yet helpful UI

As an agency specialising in the web3 space, we were all too aware of the usability issues that were presented by third party involvements such as connecting a MetaMask wallet.

We needed to come up with our own solutions that didn’t exist in the web2 space.

Our aim was to walk users through all the touchpoints where ambiguous UX was out of our control, and rectify it with a helpful interface.

Our UI designs incorporated alerts that notified users when the MetaMask window was already open or when their wallet didn’t contain the correct NFT.

Multi-chain App UX/Development

Flexible. Robust. Agnostic.

18 months on from what started as a simple staking dashboard, the Launchpool app has become a robust, decentralised app that is compatible with many of the leading blockchain networks.

As both the project and the web3 space in general have grown, we have been challenged to consistently define new UX patterns to improve the Launchpool app.

An example of how we further simplified the process would be the added alerts when the user needs to change networks. Additionally, for new users the app adds the required networks if they are not already set up.

You’re always a bit hesitant when working with a new partner, but straight away the team at Avark put us at ease. They were very professional and obviously knew exactly what they were doing in terms of web3 development.
